VINTAGE CAR RALLY & MILITARY BAND CONCERT ORGANISED BY HQ UTTAR MAHARASHTRA AND GUJARAT SUB AREA (UMANG) IN NAGPUR

Headquarter Uttar Maharashtra & Gujarat Sub Area, fondly referred to in Nagpur as UMANG, in a bid to reach out to the Ex-Servicemen and people of the Orange City as a whole, conducted a Vintage car rally on 09 Dec 18. The memorable event was organised with the support of CIVAA (Cent Ind Vintage Automotive Association Nagpur).

The rally commenced from the historical fort i.e. Sitabuldi Fort, moved to RBI square, Kriplani ‘T’ Point, Ravinagar square, Futala Lake, sadar, Ladies Club, Dharampeth & finally culminated at fort. The event featured 25 Cars & some vintage bikes among which many rare cars were of vintage from 1932 to 1970, made a grand appearance. The oldest car in rally was Rolls Royce of 1932 driven by Mr Arundev Upadhayay alongwith other cars from prestigious make such as, Bentley, Ford, Cadillac, Volkswagon & Jaguar. It was a Car rally with a difference; each car had a blind child as a navigator, who guided the driver throughout the rally with the help of Braille Route Chart. The rally was flagged off by Major General Rajesh Kundra, Sena Medal, GOC Uttar Maharashtra & Gujarat Sub Area. This was followed by an exhibition of Vintage cars & bikes organised for the people of Nagpur city.

The grand finale for the day was a Military Band Concert at Suresh Bhat Auditorium, in which the audience were left mesmerized by the fusion of modern and classical Military tune played by the much famed Brass Band of Guards Regimental Centre.
