VIP Visit: Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Announce Traffic Diversions Near Balewadi on 22nd February

Balewadi, 20th February 2025: Traffic changes have been approved by Pune Police and Pimpri Chinchwad Police for VIPs attending the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Phase 2.0 inauguration at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be present at the event.

Deputy Commissioners of Police Amol Zende (in charge of the Pune Traffic Branch) and Bapu Bangar (in charge of the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Branch) have announced these changes and requested citizens to cooperate. The traffic modifications will be in effect throughout the day on February 22nd.

Traffic Changes under Pune Police Jurisdiction
1) Vehicles travelling from Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk to Radha Chowk via Baner Road should take a left at Ganraj Chowk, use the underpass near Kia Showroom or Nanaware Underpass, and proceed to their destination.
2) Vehicles travelling from the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway’s Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass towards Baner Road should take a left at Balewadi Jakat Naka, proceed via Balewadi High Street to Ganraj Chowk, and then reach their destination.
3) Travelers heading towards Hinjawadi, Wakad, Lonavala, or Mumbai from Pune should avoid Baner Road from University Chowk and instead take Pashan Road, proceeding via Chandani Chowk to their destination.

Traffic Changes under Pimpri Chinchwad Police Jurisdiction
1) Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Radha Chowk directly from Chande-Nande and Mhalunge or vice versa. Alternative routes:
– Heavy vehicles from Chande-Nande should take a left at Godrej Circle, pass through Maan and Hinjawadi, and proceed to their destination.
– Heavy vehicles from Balewadi Jakat Naka and Baner should take a right at Radha Chowk and proceed via Wakad Naka or Hinjawadi to their destination.
– Heavy vehicles from Sus Bridge (National Highway) should avoid Radha Chowk (near Nyati Showroom) and instead proceed via Wakad Naka and Hinjawadi to their destination.

2) The road in front of Balewadi Stadium’s Main Gate will be closed from Mhalunge Police Post to Puneri Sweet (Shitlai Devi Chowk) for all vehicles.
– Alternate Route: Vehicles coming from Chande, Nande, and Mhalunge heading towards Radha Chowk should take a right at Puneri Sweet Square and go to Radha Chowk via Mhalunge Police Post Chowk.
– Vehicles going from Radha Chowk towards Chande-Nande and Mhalunge villages should take a left from Mhalunge Police Post and then go to their destination.

NOTE: Due to these traffic changes, congestion and inconvenience may increase on Pashan Road, Baner Road, Hinjawadi, Wakad, and other areas where internal routes are being used as alternatives.
