Viral Leopard Video from Kasarsai Near Hinjawadi Sparks Panic in Pune’s Outskirts
Hinjawadi, 5th October 2025: Panic has gripped Kasarsai, located near the Hinjawadi IT hub, after a leopard was spotted entering a residential area late Tuesday night. A video of the incident, which quickly went viral on social media, has raised fresh concerns about increasing human-wildlife encounters in the outskirts of Pune.
The footage shows the leopard entering a housing compound and attempting to chase a dog inside the premises. The big cat caught the dog and leapt over a boundary wall and disappeared into the darkness. The brief but alarming incident left residents shaken.
According to residents, this is not the first such sighting in Kasarsai. Several people have reported spotting a leopard in the vicinity over the past week, particularly near the forest edge and open plots adjoining residential colonies.
Officials from the Hinjawadi Police Station confirmed that no fresh sightings have been reported since Saturday morning. “We have alerted the forest department, and monitoring of the area is underway,” a police official said.
Forest department officers have advised citizens to stay indoors after dark, avoid venturing alone into isolated areas, and refrain from trying to film or follow the animal. “The leopard is likely moving between forest patches in search of food or water. Our teams are tracking its movement, and efforts are being made to capture it safely,” a forest officer said.
