Viral video shows 3 COVID-19 patients being treated on a single bed at Sassoon Hospital

Pune, April 16, 2021: The government-run hospitals in the city are facing a severe shortage of beds due to the rising COVID-19 cases. The number of active COVID-19 patients has gone from thousands to lakhs in the last few months. Some people have even lost their lives on the streets because of untimely treatment.
A video exposing the neglected and frightening reality of COVID-19 patients suffering due to the lack of hospital beds at Sassoon Hospital has gone viral on social media recently.
The rising number of COVID-19 cases in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and rural areas is a cause for concern. Municipal corporations, authorities, and the healthcare system are working day and night to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at all levels. However, the patients suffering from COVID-19 are facing many difficulties in getting timely treatment. In this situation, the administration is facing a big challenge to provide beds for such patients.
In Maharashtra, the highest number of COVID-19 patients are in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. In Pune hospital, almost all beds for COVID-19 patients are currently occupied, including at the government-run Sassoon Hospital. The city is facing a severe shortage of oxygen and ventilator beds.
A video of Sassoon Hospital has gone viral on social media which shows two or more COVID-19 patients being treated on one bed. The video also clearly shows that some people are getting treatment while sitting on the floor. So, it is clear that the healthcare system is under a lot of stress and the COVID-19 situation is becoming dire.
