Wagholi: 22 People In A Single Family Test COVID Positive After Attending Wedding
Pune, September 9, 2020: Over 22 people in a family have tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Wagholi, following which the area where they reside has been sealed. The family members recently attended a wedding in Pimpri Chinchwad.
One of the family members was tested after some symptoms were found in him. After his reports came back positive, the rest of the family members were tested, and over 22 were found to be positive for COVID-19. The Gram Panchayat immediately shut down the shops in the area and sealed it as a containment zone.
On average, 15 to 20 new patients are being found in Wagholi every day at present. However, in the last three days over 35 patients are being discovered every day. “People are gathering together for different events like weddings, funerals, etc., and that is leading to an increased spread of the disease in the area. People are also celebrating birthdays and other functions with many people, where all the COVID-related protocol is not followed. People need to follow the rules strictly to prevent the spread of the disease,” said Dr Varsha Gaikwad, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Wagholi.
