Pune, 13th October 2023: Wagholi Against Corruption Organisation (WACO) has launched an email campaign against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), questioning the rationale behind the property tax levied on Wagholi residents. WACO claims that despite regular tax payments, there has been no improvement in local infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and waste management.

WACO has initiated an aggressive email campaign targeting PMC, aiming to send 2,000 emails and written complaints within a two-week period. The organization hopes that this flood of emails will prompt PMC to take action and improve the standard of living in Wagholi.

WACO President Anil Kumar Mishra stated, “It is not fair for the residents of Wagholi to pay these taxes when no improvements have been made in the area. This is why we are calling it illogical property tax.” According to Mishra, PMC is demanding tax payments for both this year and the previous year.

WACO expects a response from PMC within 15 days. If they do not receive an answer, they plan to escalate the issue to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Prime Minister of India.
