Wakad: Hinjawadi Police Arrest Four Persons For Robbing Cab Driver At Bhumkar Chowk; Three Other Cases Also Solved

Pune, February 18, 2021: A cab driver carrying passengers was attacked and robbed near Bhumkar Chowk at 2 pm on Saturday.

Hinjawadi police have arrested four of the thieves in connection with the case. A total of 1.11 lakh items, including cash, mobile phones, and two-wheelers, have been seized from them.

The arrested have been identified as Salman Sabir Sheikh (21), Shubham Srikant Jadhav (19), Prem Balaji Potdar (19), Lalit Harikes Karotia (20). All accused are residents of Kalewadi.

Balasaheb Kondiba Bandagar (28), a resident of Kalewadi, has lodged a complaint at Hinjawadi police station.

According to the police, the complainant is a cab driver. He took the passengers from Pune to Mumbai on Friday night. At around 2 pm, the complainant took a U-turn from Bhumkar Chowk to the corner of the service road when he was stopped by a two-wheeler. The complainant was then threatened with a knife and thieves stole his mobile phone and Rs 15,600 in cash from his pocket.

While investigating the crime, the police arrested four people. A mobile phone worth Rs 15,000 and cash of Rs 600 were seized from them.

After a thorough interrogation of the thieves, they admitted to having committed robberies in Wakad, Sangvi, and Pimpri areas. Four stolen mobile phones, five mobile phones belonging to the thieves, and two two-wheelers worth Rs 1.11 lakh have been seized from them. In one action, the police have solved four cases of crime.
