Wakad: Police Busts Burglars Gang, Stolen Ornaments, Valuables Worth Rs 1.1 Crore Recovered

Pimpri, October 12, 2020: The officials from Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate have busted a gang of burglars and recovered stolen jewellery and other valuables, total worth Rs 1.1 crore, from their possession.

 

Police claimed to have solved 34 cases with the arrest of gang leader Vicky Singh Jalinder Singh Kalyani (31) of Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, and his accomplice Vijay Singh Andhasingh Junni alias Shikalkar (19) of Kalyan.

 

Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, while addressing a press conference today, said that the recovery includes 100 kg silver, 750 grams gold, three cars, one countrymade pistol and five live rounds, total worth Rs 1.1 crore. “In September, there were many burglaries including at jewellers shops. About three kg silver and gold ornaments were stolen from PR Jewellers, Wakad Road, on the night of September 20. On the same night, 20 kg silver ornaments were stolen from Navkar Jewellers in Nigdi. Then on September 26, silver ornaments were stolen from Durga Jewellers in Pimpri. While investigating the case, Wakad police team received information about stolen car being used in the burglaries. Further investigation revealed that a similar car was stolen from Lonikand police station area. Our team identified Kalyani, who has 41 cases registered against him and who has also attacked police in the past”, said the top cop.

 

Accordingly, Wakad police station detection branch teams led by Assistant Police Inspector Harish Mane and Police Sub Inspector Siddhnath Babar camped for 10 days in Wagholi, Kharadi, Chandan Nagar areas in search of the accused person. “There was information that Kalyani is always armed and he changes his address often. Therefore, the police team was asked to be alert while looking for him and his accomplices. Acting on a tip-off received by Police Naik Pramod Kadam, the accused Kalyani and his accomplice were caught while travelling in a car”, said DCP (Crime Branch) Sudhir Hiremath.

 

Senior Police Inspector Vivek Muglikar, in-charge of Wakad police station, said, “Kalyani confessed to committing burglary in Wakad and accordingly he was arrested. A court remanded him to 12 days custody police custody. During the investigation, we stumbled upon 34 cases which were committed by Kalyani and his accomplices. Till now we have recovered 100 kg silver, 750 gm gold and other valuables from their possession. Two of Kalyani’s accomplices are still wanted.”

 

Police have solved five cases under Wakad, five from Chikhli, three from Dehuroad, six in Nigdi, three in Pimpri, two in Chinchwad, two in Bhosari, two in Sangvi, two in Bhosari MIDC, and one each in Hinjawadi, Loni Kalbhor, Lonikand and Waliv police stations.

 

DCP Hiremath, ACPs Shridhar Jadhav and Sanjay Naik-Patil supervised the investigation team which included police personnel Vikram Jagdale, Javed Pathan, Vijay Gambhire, Vikram Kudal, Nitin Gengje, Suraj Sutar, Bapusaheb Dhumal, Bibshan Kanherkar, Babajan Inamdar, Sham Baba, Nitin Dhorje, Deepak Bhosale, Sachin Narute, Pramod Bhandwalkar, Tatya Shinde, Prashant Gilbile and Nutan Konde.
