Wakad: Police nab man who used to molest women walking in Wakad, Vishalnagar areas

Pune, June 20, 2020: In a shocking incident at Wakad, a 31-year-old doctor who was walking from Kaspate Corner, near Bhakti Genesis Building, a man on a two-wheeler molested her on June 8 morning. The woman was walking along with her husband when this happened. The couple approached the police station but did not complain out of fear for her honour initially. But later she filed a complaint.
A detection branch team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Harish Mane, PSI Sidhnath Babar and policemen Sachin Narute and Vikram Jagdale traced the accused with the help of CCTV footage and other technical information. Police have identified the accused as Harshal Vikas Bhegde(28), resident of Pimple Nilakh. He was produced before a judicial magistrate court in Shivajinagar, which remanded him to three days police custody.
Police said that the accused works as a delivery boy with an e-commerce company. He has three motorbikes and he used to molest women by sticking cellotape on the first and last four digits of the motorbike number so that the number of the motorbike could not be identified.
Senior Police Inspector Dr Vivek Muglikar, in-charge of Wakad police station, said that even before this, incidents of women being molested by unknown youths have come to light in the Vishalnagar area. But to date, no complaint has been lodged with the police station. Therefore, I appeal to women and girls to lodge a complaint with police, if anyone harasses or molests them.
The investigation team included PSI Vishnu Hole and policemen Bibshan Kanherkar, Bapusaheb Dhumal, Nitin Gengje, Babajan Inamdar, Javed Pathan, Pramod Bhandwalkar, Nitin Dhorje, Deepak Bhosale, Vijay Gambhire, Vikram Kudal, Pramod Kadam, Sham Baba, Suraj Sutar, Tatya Shinde, Prashant Gilbile, and Suresh Bhosale.
