War-Like Emergency Mock Drill at Six Pune Locations Today, Citizens Urged Not to Panic

Pune, 7th May 2025: In line with Central Government directives, a large-scale mock drill simulating a war-like emergency will be conducted today at six key locations in Pune district. The exercise, aimed at enhancing preparedness and coordination among emergency response agencies, will commence at 4 PM.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi announced the initiative during a review meeting held at the Collectorate, urging all participating agencies to maintain discipline and cautioning citizens not to panic or fall for rumours.
The mock drill will be held at the following locations:
Vidhan Bhavan
Mulshi Panchayat Samiti
Talegaon Municipal Council
Vanaz Industrial Estate
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)
Collector Dudi stated, “This drill is being conducted as a precautionary measure to ensure that in the event of a real war-like emergency, help and guidance can be provided to citizens swiftly. Various demonstrations will be carried out to illustrate life-saving techniques and emergency response protocols.”
He emphasized that the drill is a preparedness measure, not a cause for alarm. “The objective is to minimize loss of life and disruption to normal life in case of national emergencies,” he added.
Extensive Inter-Agency Participation
The mock drill will involve coordinated efforts from:
Defence Forces
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)
District Administration and Police
Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations
Health and Fire Departments
College students, NCC cadets, National Service Scheme (NSS), and Nehru Yuva Kendra coordinators
During the meeting, Colonel Prashant Chatur, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence Force, provided an overview of the drill’s objectives and emphasized its significance. “This exercise plays a vital role in maintaining continuity of life and public services during conflict situations,” he said.
Also present at the meeting were Colonel Nishad Mangrulkar, Commanding Officer of NCC Pune Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Milind Mohite from Pune City Police, and Additional SP Ramesh Chopde from Pune Rural Police, along with representatives from all participating agencies.

The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate fully and avoid spreading misinformation. Authorities will closely monitor the execution to identify improvement areas and ensure readiness for future contingencies.
