Mumbai, 30th June 2025: Actress Shefali Jariwala—popularly known as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl—passed away unexpectedly on the night of June 27. She was 41. Known for her breakout music video in the early 2000s, Jariwala’s sudden demise has left celebrities and fans alike grappling with disbelief and grief.

The Mumbai Police and forensic team reached her residence soon after the incident, initiating a thorough investigation. As per the preliminary findings by Amboli Police, Shefali passed away at home before she could be admitted to Bellevue Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Initial Cause of Death Suspected to Be Low Blood Pressure
While initial reports speculated a cardiac arrest, authorities now suspect a severe drop in blood pressure may have been the cause. “The forensic team was called as per protocol under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Justice Code),” said a senior officer from Amboli Police Station. “Doctors at the scene have indicated that a sudden and significant decrease in blood pressure may have led to her collapse.”

A case of “sudden death” has been registered. Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.

She Had Fainted After Eating Refrigerated Food
In his statement to the police, Shefali’s husband, actor Parag Tyagi, revealed that Shefali had fainted shortly after consuming food stored in the refrigerator. The couple had hosted a Satyanarayan puja at their home earlier in the day, attended by close family members. It is believed that Shefali had been fasting for the religious occasion.

Glutathione and Vitamin Tablets Found
During the investigation, officers recovered two boxes of dietary supplements from Shefali’s apartment—mostly anti-aging and skin-brightening tablets containing glutathione and vitamins. However, police said no toxic substances were found and there was no indication of overdose or misuse.

“All family members, including Parag Tyagi, have given their statements. None of them have raised any suspicion or complaint. No irregularities have been found,” said a second police official.
