Watch: Massive Compound Wall Collapses After Heavy Rain in Pune’s Bhukum, CCTV Captures Moment
Bhukum, 8th July 2026: Continuous heavy rainfall triggered the collapse of a compound wall at a residential society in Bhukum village of Mulshi taluka near Pune, creating panic among residents. The dramatic incident, which occurred during the night, was captured on CCTV cameras.
Fortunately, no one was injured as the wall came crashing down at a time when there were no pedestrians or vehicles nearby. The incident has, however, raised serious concerns over the structural safety of residential developments in the area.
CCTV footage of the collapse shows the compound wall suddenly giving way following incessant rainfall, highlighting the impact of the ongoing monsoon on infrastructure.
Residents alleged that the incident was not merely a consequence of heavy rain but also pointed to poor construction quality and negligence. They claimed that the use of substandard materials and inadequate workmanship may have contributed to the wall’s collapse.
“This is not just the collapse of a compound wall—it is a matter of public safety. Had the incident occurred during the day, it could have resulted in serious injuries or even fatalities,” a resident said, demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible if any construction lapses are established.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear among residents, many of whom are now concerned about the structural integrity of other parts of the housing society.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
