Weather Update: IMD Issues Moderate Rain Warning For Pune Today, Yellow Alert
Pune, 15th March 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for several districts in Maharashtra, including Pune, Ahmednagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, and Parbhani.
According to the IMD bulletin issued at 10 am today, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in these districts during the next 3-4 hours. The bulletin also warned of momentarily strong winds reaching 30-40 kmph.
Satellite image (beta) shows cloud cover over Maharashtra state, districts, and Pune. There is a yellow warning in many districts, including Pune district/city. Tomorrow, there will be more weather activity, so an orange warning/alert has been issued for Pune district/city. This phase of weather will continue until March 18th.
The IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions while moving out during this period. The warning has come as a precautionary measure as the weather conditions are likely to be severe in some areas.
Residents in these districts have been advised to avoid going outdoors unless it is absolutely necessary.
