WeLoveU Foundation Hosts Blood Donation Drive at Sassoon Hospital

Pune, 24th March 2025: On Sunday, BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, in Pune was bustling, with around 200 volunteers. The global welfare organization International WeLoveU Foundation (Chairwoman Zahng Gil-Jah, hereinafter WeLoveU) held the 779th One-Two Blood Drive to overcome the blood shortage during the summer.

A WeLoveU official said, “We are happy to be able to share love and hope with patients in need of blood transfusions through blood donation. We will continue to roll up our sleeves to help improve awareness of blood donation and expand participation in the local community. We hope for many citizens to participate.”

About 200 We Love You members, family members, friends, and neighbors from all over Pune participated in the event. The faces of the participants who took care of their health in preparation for donating blood were filled with excitement. After reading the precautions, participants donated blood in an orderly manner based on the results of the questionnaire. 141 people donated 49,350ml of blood.

The Sassoon Hospital provided all medical care necessary for blood donation and prepared snacks to encourage the participants. Dr.Yelappa Jadhav, Medical Superintendent of BJ Medical College and Sasoon General Hospital, said “It is great to see such a huge number of participants come in an orderly manner to participate in the blood donation”.

Dr. Leena Nakate, Deputy Dean and HOD of Pathology Dept said, “They would like to work with us in the future also for other volunteer activities, advised some tips for female participants, so that they can also be a part of more contributions in the future, Dr. Varsha Bhatia, In-charge, Blood centre, said, “they were very happy to see such lively participants enthusiastically participate in the blood donation camp”.

Vilas Parmar, Director of Parmar Properties, Pune said “ He was very happy to see volunteers gather in large number for blood donation and said he would like to support such events in the future as well”.

Bapusaheb Pathare, MLA, Vadgaon Sheri, Pune said, “He was happy to hear that WeLoveU foundation carries out volunteer activities in 175 countries and gave well wishes for future endeavors.”

Member, Matthew Mao (40, Pimpri Chinchwad) said, “It is a very active and pleasing environment in BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital today.”

Member, Sundaram (40, Pune) said, “ He was very happy to be a part of this blood donation camp in BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital today.”

This blood donation event, which started in Korea in 2004 and spread to countries around the world, has established itself as a global life-saving movement for over 20 years. As of last year, it has been held in 64 countries, with 117,100 people participating and 52,200 donating blood. Considering that one blood donation saves three people, this is an achievement that saved 156,800 lives.

This year, the drive is being actively carried out in various countries including the US, Korea, the Philippines, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, and Kenya. In India, the 756th One-Two BloodDrive was held on the same day at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bangalore, Karnataka. Earlier this month, it was also held in Amritsar, Punjab, and Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The One-Two Blood Drive has been held more than 60 times in various parts of the country, with over 15,000 people participating and 4,000 donating blood.

WeLoveU carries out comprehensive welfare activities for neighbors and local communities. For example, through the Clean World Movement, which aims to purify cities, parks, mountains, rivers, and the ocean, based on the idea that a clean environment is the foundation of a healthy life. So far, it has been carried out in places such as Juhu Beach in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Mulla-Mutha River in Pune, Nasik Road Railway Station in Nashik, Godavari River in Rajamund, Andhra Pradesh, Secunderabad Junction Railway Station in Telangana, and Durgam Cheruvu Lake in Hyderabad.

In addition, we provided water purification facilities to the Shivarkar Government Hospital in Pune, Maharashtra, food supplies to a nursing home in Kochi, and a public toilet in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, enabling neighbors to lead clean and healthy lives. In addition, we helped improve the educational environment for children by delivering school bags, uniforms, school supplies, water tanks, and fans to elementary, middle, and high schools in Solapur and Pune, Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Warangal, Telangana.

WeLoveU has carried out more than 4,500 welfare activities in the areas of emergency relief, poverty and hunger relief, health, education, environmental conservation, water and sanitation security, community welfare, and international exchange and partnership for a world where everyone is respected and sustainable peace. For such altruistic actions, it has received numerous awards from various countries, including the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the Republic of Korea Medal of Honor, the Cambodian King’s Medal of Honor, and the Ecuadorian National Assembly Medal of Honor.
