Chakan, 24th March 2025: A tripping incident in the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company’s (MSETCL) Urse-Chinchwad 220 kV power line at 1:39 PM today caused a significant power load increase on the PGCIL Talegaon to Chakan 400 kV transmission line. To manage the overload and prevent potential risks, the Load Trimming Scheme (LTS) was activated, resulting in a power outage lasting 26 to 39 minutes in the Chakan MIDC area and surrounding regions.

The tripping led to a deficit of 163 MW, affecting electricity supply to several high-voltage substations, including Chakan 400 kV, Chakan Phase-II 220 kV, and Bridgestone 220 kV substations. Consequently, power was cut off to 34 substations managed by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) in the Chakan MIDC area. This disruption impacted approximately 800 high-voltage and 4,000 low-voltage industrial consumers, along with around 35,000 domestic and commercial customers in villages such as Shindegaon, Sawardari, Varale, Vasuli, Yelwadi, Khalumbre, Sangurdi, Kurali and others.

The outage occurred during peak operational hours, causing inconvenience to industries and residents alike. While power was restored within the specified timeframe, concerns remain over the reliability of the transmission infrastructure. MSETCL officials have assured that measures are being taken to address such incidents and improve grid stability.
