Pune, 14th November, 2023 – WhatsApp has begun rolling out its latest feature, Voice Chat, for group interactions. Unlike traditional group calls, this feature allows users to connect with 33 to 128 group members seamlessly. WhatsApp announced the rollout of this feature through its official channel.

“Rolling out now: voice chat for your larger groups! You’ll soon have the option to talk it out live with whoever can join or keep texting with whoever can’t”, tweeted WhatsApp.

Designed specifically for WhatsApp groups, Voice Chat enables users to engage in live conversations with multiple members simultaneously. Users can send messages alongside the voice chat, enhancing the communication experience.

While WhatsApp already offers the option to send voice messages, Voice Chat operates differently. When a voice chat is initiated, group members receive notifications to join. Users can monitor the number of participants on their screens, and the voice chat automatically concludes when all members exit. Additionally, if no one joins within 60 minutes, the voice chat will end.

To initiate a voice chat, enter the WhatsApp group, tap the voice chat icon in the top right corner, and select ‘Start Voice Chat.’

Previously, Wabetainfo had reported the impending introduction of this feature, initially available to beta testers. Users must update their app to access the new feature, noting that it won’t be visible in groups with fewer than 33 members; it is tailored for larger groups.
