Pune, 14th November, 2023 – Govardhan Puja, celebrated annually on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month, is observed nationwide today. Devotees mark this auspicious occasion by worshiping Lord Krishna, the world’s protector, seeking refuge in his feet to alleviate sorrows and achieve happiness in life.

According to the Panchang, the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month begins at 02:36 pm today, and Dwitiya Tithi will follow. Devotees can perform Govardhan Puja until noon, in alignment with Sanatan Dharma’s Udaya Tithi. Additionally, today also marks the celebration of Bhai Dooj, symbolizing the special bond between brothers and sisters.

On this Govardhan Puja, the auspicious Shobhan Yoga forms until 01:47 pm, offering seekers eternal results and considered propitious by astrologers. The construction of Bav Karan extends until 02:36 pm, providing a favorable time for auspicious activities.

Worship Method: After completing daily activities, create an image of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Mountain in the courtyard using cow dung. Take a bath with water, including Ganga water, purify yourself through Aachman, and vow to fast. Adorn new clothes, offer water to the Sun God, and proceed with the Govardhan Puja. Perform Panchopachar, using fruits, flowers, milk, curd, kheer, butter, sugar candy, and sweets for the worship. Chant mantras during the puja, circumambulate Ankit Govardhan ji and conclude with Aarti-Archana. After the puja, feed jaggery and rice to a mother cow. Following this ritual enhances happiness and prosperity in life.
