Will royal challengers lift the trophy in 2020?

16 September, 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore starts to win an Indian Premier League title almost every year. Still, they have not been able to lift the championship so far for a single time. Supporters of one of the most famous franchises are rightly dismissed, as is the management that this year tried to reinvent the side bringing in new players and a coach in former South African batsman Gary Kirsten. This time, will Virat Kohli’s side deliver?

The RCB has always boasted of their batting line-up featuring like-minded Kohli and South African AB de Villiers. Not long ago, Chris Gayle’s Caribbean warning was part of the line-up too. There have been instances of these RCB batters making massive personal records, but team-wise, they have struggled to finish as well. RCB reached the finals three times, the latest being in 2016 under Kohli, but could not even win the IPL trophy once. Kohli also admitted recently that the Royals fell short of the title because of wrong decisions.

It’s a good year for Bangalore

Apart from the cricketing factor, another explanation also indicates that this year Bengaluru could do well at the IPL. Franchises based out of the city have done well in various sports such as badminton, kabaddi, and football during the 2018-19 season.

Though in January Bengaluru Bulls defeated Gujarat Fortune giants to win their maiden title in the Pro Kabaddi League, Bengaluru Raptors pocketed their first-ever title in the Pro Badminton League.
In football, another Indian captain, Sunil Chhetri, also led the Bengaluru FC to beat Goa in the Indian Super League final on Sunday. Even in cricket, Karnataka recently beat Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 final to gain the title.

Learning from past mistakes

The 2019 edition was not so lovely for the team, and they were in the Points table at the bottom. Now in the auction, Royal Challengers have purchased some good players to satisfy loopholes and create a right side for the championship. Along with South African duo Dale Steyn and Chris Morris, Australia’s star players Aaron Finch and Adam Zampa have been signed to the team.

Bangalore will undoubtedly play around their leading players including Kohli, AB De Villiers, Moeen Ali, Parthiv Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Umesh Yadav and they will make their strategy.

As per the sports website betway released Numbers, Royal Challengers has been named 4th most expensive squad in Dream11 IPL 2020. The team has 18 international cricketers averaging 29 years and two months of age. RCB captain Virat Kohli is the highest paying player on their roster with a massive price tag of $2.4 million. He was sensational and will be interested to see how he is doing in this season.

RCB are scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first IPL 2020 match on 21 September in Dubai.
