With a rise in new cases every day in the PMC, the recovery rate is also rising

Pune, 31 July 2020: As times seem bleak due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cases keep on rising in Pune city, the recovery rate of patients is promising.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), from July 18-29, have reported 15,860 new patients bringing the total number of cases from 35,878 to 51,738. In the span of 12 days, the recovery rate of patients was recorded to be 10,742.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Rubal Agarwal said that as compared to the increase in new patients, the percentage of active cases have been going down. From 39 per cent on July 23, it fell down to 34.53 per cent on July 29. The highest number of patients discharged in a day was recorded to be 2,543.

In the last 12 days, though the increase in new patients is being recorded every day, the number of active cases is going down because the percentage of recovered patients is also high.

The PMC as of July 29 had conducted 2, 61,000 tests which come to 58,931 tests per million and out of these, 51,738 people tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. This means that the doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in Pune is 24.57 per cent.

The number of critical cases now stand to be 845 and the number of recovered patients is 32,623. According to these statistics, the recovery rate is 63.05 per cent.
