With Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar completes hat-trick of flops
Mumbai, 11th June 2022: The earnings of Akshay Kumar’s recently released film ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ are falling day by day and in just a week, the film is standing on the verge of collapse.
This is Akshay’s third consecutive film after ‘Bell Bottom’ and ‘Bachchan Pandey’, which seems to be a flop in theatres. Talking about the net collection of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ in India, the film did a business of only 1.70 crores on Friday. With this, the film’s earnings have declined by 40%.
Samrat Prithviraj has earned almost as much on its second Friday as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did on its fourth Friday. Along with this, it can also be expected that ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’ being a weekend film will exceed ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ on Saturday. Seeing the battered condition of Akshay’s film, it is being estimated that ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ will be able to cross the figure of only 65-70 crores at the most.
Talking about the earnings of the first week of ‘Emperor Prithviraj’, the figures are like this,
Friday (June 03) – Rs 10.70 Cr
Saturday (June 04) – Rs 12.60 Cr
Sunday (June 05) – Rs 16.10 Cr
Monday (June 06) – Rs 5 crore
Tuesday (June 07) – Rs 4.25 Cr
Wednesday (June 08) – Rs 3.60 Cr
Thursday (June 09) – Rs 2.80 crore
First Week Collection – Rs 55.05 Cr
Friday (June 10) – Rs 1.70 crore
Total earnings so far -Rs 56.75 crore
Talking about the cost of production of the film, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is the first historical film of Yash Raj Films and they have spent a lot on it. Aditya Chopra had kept a huge budget for everything from the film’s VFX to the costumes. According to reports, the production cost of the film is more than 250 crores and the film has earned only 56.75 crores in eight days. That is, the film has so far failed to get even a third of its own. On June 10, two new films “Janhit Mein Jari” and “777 Charlie” were released. In such a situation, we will have to see how many more days ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ can last amidst increasing competition at the box office.
