Woman arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau for taking a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh to ‘settle’ court judgement

Pune, January 14, 2021: The Anti Corruption Bureau has arrested a woman for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh, saying that the result of the case will be in favour of the complainant by managing the court directly. The Anti Corruption Bureau has arrested the woman. The court has remanded her in police custody till January 20.

Shubhawari Bhalchandra Gaikwad (29, resident of Talegao, Tal. Maval) is the name of the woman. Shubhawari demanded the bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh saying she would manage the pending case in the Vadgaon Maval Court and settle the case in the complainant’s favor. The complainant had then lodged a complaint with the Anti Corruption Bureau. On investigating it was clear that the woman was demanding a bribe.

A team under guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB-Pune range) Rajesh Bansode and Additional Superintendent of Police Suraj Gurav arrested the woman on Wednesday while accepting the bribe. She was presented before the court, which remanded her in police custody till January 20. Deputy Superintendent of Police Seema Mehendale is currently investigating the case
