Jalna, 8th August 2022: The police have registered a case against a gynecologist in connection to the death of a 26-year-old woman after delivery at a private hospital in Maharashtra’s Jalna city. The case has been registered after a committee of government doctors held him guilty of negligence. Referring to a report of the committee of senior doctors of Government Hospital and Medical College (GHMC) Aurangabad, which probed the matter on Sunday, a police official said that the doctor left the woman with inexperienced nurses and went for a morning walk.

“She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. On the morning of April 13, after delivery, there was a severe shortage of blood in her body. The doctor left her in the hands of inexperienced nurses and went for a morning walk. The doctors and nurses did not tell the woman about the need for blood,” an officer said.

The office further stated, “The doctor did not provide proper information about the condition of the woman and the requirement of blood. As a result, she died due to excessive blood loss.” The patient’s husband filed a complaint with the government district hospital and demanded an inquiry into his wife’s death. Thereafter the complaint was referred to the GMCH committee.

A case has been registered against the gynecologist under section 304 (negligent death) of the Indian Penal Code, the official said. The inspection is ongoing.
