Woman Doctor Cheated of Rs 23.83 Lakhs by Cyber Thieves in Pune
Shivajinagar, 24th April 2023: A case has been registered against cyber thieves who cheated a 50-year-old woman doctor of Rs 23.83 lakh. The victim filed a complaint at Shivajinagar police station, and the case has been registered under the Information Technology Act at the Cyber Police Station.
According to the victim’s complaint, the accused sent a message to her through social media and convinced her to like video tapes of an advertisement. The accused promised her good returns for completing the “task” and asked for a small payment initially. The cyber thieves then lured her into paying more money from time to time, extorting a total of Rs 23.83 lakh.
The victim eventually realized that she had been defrauded and lodged a complaint with the police. Crime Branch Police Inspector Vikram Gaud is investigating the case.
