Shivajinagar, 13th March 2023: A 23-year-old woman from Pune was sexually harassed by two men, including a 73-year-old, on the pretext of providing her employment. The victim had lost her mother two months ago and was desperately looking for a job. She had completed a beautician training course and had some experience working in the real estate sector.

The JW Marriott hotel is the site of a shocking sexual harassment incident, as 23-year-old woman was lured under false pretenses by accused Bharat Joshi, who showed her obscene videos during a supposed job interview. Joshi later promised her a job in real estate and arranged a meeting at a flat, where he proceeded to molest her. Kishor Chavan was also present at the hotel during the incident.

The victim had known Joshi for some time and had reached out to him for help finding a job. Joshi asked her to come to the JW Marriott hotel on Senapati Bapat Road for an interview, with Chavan also present when the victim arrived. During the meeting, Joshi asked the victim if she was comfortable with performing a body massage and directed her to Chavan, who showed her inappropriate massage videos. The victim was frightened and declined the job offer, but the accused convinced her to trust them and offered her a job in real estate.

Joshi told her that he had a flat for sale at Pimple Saudagar and asked her to search for a buyer. When she went to see the flat, Joshi took advantage of the situation as she was alone and touched her inappropriately. She managed to escape and immediately approached the police to lodge a complaint.

In her complaint, the victim said that both accused were trying to push her into prostitution. Chavan had also sent an obscene image to her on WhatsApp and asked her to send a similar photo of herself. He told her that it would help her look more attractive, as he was a skin specialist. He even asked her to go with his friend who was coming from London.

The Chaturshrungi police have booked Bharat Joshi and Kishor Chavan under section 354-A (sexual harassment) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Assistant police inspector Sujata Shanme, who is attached to the Chaturshrungi police station, said that the victim was called to the JW Marriott on the pretext of giving her a job and sexually harassed. The police have been tracking the accused through their mobile numbers and they will be arrested soon. Further investigation is underway.

The victim’s family had taken a loan of around Rs 9 lakh for the treatment of her ailing mother. Her mother passed away two months ago, and since then, she had been depressed and desperately looking for a job. The incident left her shocked, and she was inclined to file a complaint to prevent the accused from luring other innocent girls in the name of providing them with jobs and dragging them into the net.
