World Toilet Day 2017- Need of more Entrepreneurs in Sanitation sector

Executive Director of The Toilet Board Coalition, Ms. Cheryl Hicks, jointly signed the MoU with Additional Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation, Prerna Deshbhratar for the 1 st Smart Sanitation City in India with all the attendees, delegates and participants present in the Auditorium.
CEO and Founder of 3S & Saraplast Pvt Limited, Mr. Rajeev Kher was invited as a speaker and delegate at the event to share his learning’s of 18 years and thoughts on ‘Starts-Ups in the sanitation sector. Saraplast Pvt Ltd is India’s very first “Portable Sanitation” company started back in 1999 is now one of the top 50 Social Impact Enterprises in India.
3s is also working in line with the Swachh Bharat Abiyaan; extending hands to create Smart cities. 3s is constantly innovating new solutions for the sanitation industry and recently, along with Pune Municipal Corporation and different CSR partners has taken an initiative to recycle old public transport buses to luxury public toilets for women known as ti-tOILET iNTEGRATION. These bus toilets are placed across the city and are available for women from all strata of the society.
Fact states today that 4.5 billion people across the globe live without a household toilet. Almost 75% of the human waste is not treated and disposed irresponsibly. In
India, the under-five mortality rate of children is 83 per 1000 due to poor sanitation facilities. It is time that more ‘Sani-preneurs’ focus on the budding sanitation economy which is estimated to grow to a $62 billion market in India alone by 2021.
This is the biggest opportunity in a century to transform sanitation systems into smart, sustainable and revenue generating economy and help to achieve Sustainable development Goal of 2030.
