Yamaha to Introduce New Technology in Its Bikes, Change Gears Without Clutch and Lever, Learn the Details
Pune, 27th June 2024: Yamaha, renowned for its high-quality motorcycles globally, is set to revolutionize bike riding with its latest innovation. The Japanese manufacturer has unveiled the Y-AMT technology, aimed at simplifying gear changes without the need for a clutch or lever. This technology will soon be integrated into Yamaha bikes across the European market, promising a seamless riding experience.
Yamaha’s Y-AMT eliminates the traditional clutch and lever setup by utilizing ride-by-wire technology. Riders can now switch gears effortlessly using a switchgear-mounted panel controlled by finger and thumb movements. This innovation ensures quick and convenient gear changes even at high speeds, enhancing rider comfort significantly.
According to Yamaha, Y-AMT allows for both manual gear changes and automatic shifting, adapting to various riding preferences. This technology marks Yamaha’s latest step in enhancing rider convenience and bike performance.
Similar technologies are already utilized by other manufacturers like Honda with their DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) system in scooters and bikes, and BMW with ASA (Automatic Shift Assistant) in motorcycles. Yamaha has a history of innovation in transmission technology, previously introducing YCC-S (Yamaha Chip Controlled Shift) in models like the FJR 1300.
