Pune, 9th June 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and light to moderate rains in the city over the next few days. With heavy clouds already present in many areas, the possibility of thunderstorms and rain looms large.

In light of this alert, the IMD has advised residents to stay updated with weather information and take necessary precautions. The districts of Nashik, Pune, Jalgaon, Nanded, Solapur, Ahmednagar, Satara, and Sangli have been placed under a yellow alert, indicating a likelihood of thunderstorms and rain. The IMD has issued a notice urging people to remain indoors and avoid open spaces.

While the monsoon onset is expected around June 6-7, it is unlikely to reach parts of Maharashtra until at least June 8 due to a system over the Arabian Sea. However, the anticipated thunderstorms will bring much-needed relief from the ongoing heat waves. The maximum temperature in Pune is projected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius.

Residents are advised to prepare for the inclement weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. It is advisable to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts, avoid venturing out during heavy rain and thunderstorms, and follow any directives or warnings issued by local authorities.
