Young Doctor Commits Suicide in Pune After Marriage Fraud

Bibvewadi, 20th January 2025: A 25-year-old female doctor in Pune’s Bibvewadi area died by suicide on 7th January 2025, after being deceived by a man who falsely claimed to be unmarried. The Bibvewadi Police have registered a case against the accused from Sangli for fraud and abetment to suicide.
The victim met the accused through a matrimonial website where he had registered as single despite being married. He lured the doctor with promises of marriage and allegedly extorted Rs 10 lakh from her over time.
According to the police, the two initially met at a clinic in Dehu area. The doctor’s family rejected the man due to his suspicious behaviour. However, he re-established contact with the victim and continued to deceive her.
When the doctor asked for her money back, the accused gave evasive responses, leading to an argument. He then revealed he was married with a pregnant wife, causing emotional distress to the victim.
Devastated by the betrayal, the young doctor consumed poison at a clinic in Bibvewadi. Her father recently filed a complaint with the Bibvewadi Police, leading to the case being registered against the accused.
