Wakad: Youth Beaten By Hotel Staff In Pune Dies After Jumping From Second Floor After Fight During LGBTQ Members Party

Wakad, 26th July 2022: On Monday, a youth died after jumping from a hotel in Pimpri Chinchwad’s Wakad neighbourhood.

According to the police, the deceased is identified as Abhay Gondane (21) who worked as customer care executive with a private company in Viman Nagar. He and his 24-year-old transgender friend attended a party on Monday at The Bar Heist Hotel in Wakad. The party was organised by Mist, an organisation of the LGBTQ community.

As per the FIR, the two friends who lived in Vishrantwadi went to the party around 10.30 pm on Sunday. While dancing, the complainant had a minor fight with another transgender person around 1.30 am on Monday. They had consumed liquor. After that the hotel staff made them to leave to prevent things from getting worse. The deceased went back to question the staff when he was assaulted by the hotel owner, his wife and other staff members. The deceased youth suffered head injuries as he jumped from the second floor of the hotel building in an attempt to save himself.

Some people informed the police who reached there and called the ambulance. They were taken to Aditya Birla Hospital before being transferred to Sassoon General Hospital. However, Gondane succumbed to injuries.

Based on a complaint, Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police, has registered an FIR under sections 304 (ii), 326, 324, 323, 143, 148, and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against hotel owner Gajanan Kharat and others.
