Bhor, 19th February 2025: In a shocking series of events, a young man has died by suicide in Pune District, allegedly fearing a police investigation. This incident took place in Bhor Taluka of Pune District, and family members of the deceased have now made accusations of pressure against Shirwal Police Station under the Satara Police Force. The family alleges that even though the deceased wasn’t involved, Satara Police were pressuring him and had beaten him in custody.
In the Shirwal MIDC area, a 22-year-old was killed with a sword. Shirwal Police arrested a 19-year-old suspect. During the investigation, they repeatedly summoned a young man named Ajay Tukaram Shinde (age 22, resident of Nhavi, Bhor). He was allegedly beaten by Satara Police as well. The family claims that due to fear of police beatings and torture, the deceased decided to take his own life.
Media reports say that the murdered youth, Amar Kondhalkar, and Ajay Shinde used to work in the same company. On suspicion of murdering Kondhalkar, Shirwal Police arrested Tejas Nigade, also a resident of Bhor Taluka, Pune. Ajay hanged himself yesterday, reportedly due to being repeatedly summoned by Shirwal Police, according to media reports. A case of accidental death has been registered at Rajgad Police Station, under Pune Rural Police Force.
The deceased’s uncle, Ankush Shinde, reported the incident to Rajgad Police Station. Ajay was found hanging in the bedroom while his uncle was outside. Upon returning home, he saw Ajay and immediately rushed him to the Sub-District Hospital in Bhor, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police Inspector Rajesh Gawali, in charge of Rajgad Police Station, told Punekar News, “The case of suicide has happened under our jurisdiction. A case of accidental death has been registered. However, until now, no such issue of the deceased’s family accusing Satara Police or the exact reason for suicide is known. We are investigating the matter further.”
