Young Man Killed, Another Injured in Hit-and-Run on Old Mumbai-Pune Highway

Bopodi, 13th November 2024: A young man has been killed and another seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident involving a dumper on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway in Dapodi. The dumper driver fled the scene after the collision, and a case has been registered against him. The two-wheeler driver remains critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Kashinath Ambadas Gawandi, while the injured rider, Shivanand Rajshekhar Ganmukhi, also 24, is a resident of Upper Indira Nagar. Ganmukhi has filed a complaint at the Khadki Police Station, and the police have registered a case against the unknown dumper driver.
According to police reports, Kashinath and Shivanand, both residents of Bibwewadi, were travelling to their native village when the accident occurred yesterday afternoon. As they neared Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk in Bopodi, a speeding dumper struck their two-wheeler from behind. The impact caused severe injuries to both men, and the dumper driver fled the scene without stopping.
Both victims were rushed to the hospital, but Kashinath succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment. Shivanand remains under medical care. Police Sub-Inspector Arjun Bendgude of the Khadki Police Station is overseeing the investigation.
