Youth Accused Of Killing Students In Manipur Arrested By CBI From Pune
Pune 13th Oct 2023: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has arrested a 22-year-old youth in connection with alleged abduction and murder of two students in Imphal district of Manipur. The accused identified as Paolun Mang was arrested on October 11 and was produced before the court by the investigation team where the court has sent him to custody till October 16.
The accused is claimed to be the mastermind of the murder of two students identified as Hijam Linthoingami (17) and Phijam Hemjit (20) who went missing on July 6 this year and their photos had gone viral last month. The viral photos led to violent protests across the state and the security agencies had to shut down the internet again to control the situation.
The CBI team has already arrested four accused including two men and two women in the case. Paolun was hiding in Pune after the incident. Two separate cases were registered in the matter and the case was handed over to CBI for investigation.
