Zimbabwe Cyclone:Puneite Rotarian Helps water filters and medicines

Rotarian Rahul Pathak from the Rotary club of Kothrud Pune, Director of Aquaplus helped cyclone flooded Zimbabwe , deploying 4 water filters to Zimbabwe along with Cholera Kits and tablets contributed by Hindustan Pharma. After cyclone in Mid March ,Rotarian Satish Khade and Ms.Raisa Shaikh have made major role of connecting to people who were ready to support Zimbabwe post Idai cyclone.
Rotarian Rahul Pathak and Pravin Pawar have headed to Zimbabwe as delegates of
WASH , considering the situation to be very crucial as Zimbabwe would be facing a Cholera
epidemic if clean and safe drinking water was not made available post floods.
The team consists of people from diverse backgrounds and different countries.
The Zimbabwe team led by Dr Nehaal Mayur of UNDPI , New York, Mr.Fischer Chiyanike
President ZUNA and Mr.Saurabh Navande collaborated with the ZUNA group – Pune consisting
of Prof.Raisa Shaikh and Rotarian Satish Khade to extend Humanitarian Aid to Zimbabwe.(ZUNA is Zimbabwe United Nations Association)
Aqua Plus is a company based in Pune which manufactures water purifiers for disaster relief
operations during emergencies like floods , earthquakes , cyclones to provide safe drinking
water. It is already supporting organizations like RedCross , USAID etc.
Rahul Pathak and his company Aquaplus have also supported the Kerala Floods by providing
water purifiers and saving thousands of people from cholera outbreaks and other water borne
diseases.
Rotary District Governor Dr. Shailesh Palekar has congratulated all the clubs under Rotary
3131 for working on Safe and Clean Water Projects in Pune and other districts of
Maharashtra.
Extending WASH to Zimbabwe’s cyclone hit regions , adds another feather in its cap ! ,
expressed Dr. Shailesh Palekar.
