Ajay Devgn takes on new role as KFC’s add HOPE™ ambassador
National, 7th August, 2016: In its fight against hunger, KFC India today announced its partnership with acclaimed Bollywood actor and producer, Ajay Devgn for its add HOPE™ initiative. add HOPE™ is KFC’s long term commitment that will create awareness for anti-hunger and raise funds to provide meals to India’s underprivileged children. KFC India, along with beneficiaries like World Food Program (WFP) and India FoodBanking Network (IFBN), aims to provide 20 million meals to underprivileged children by 2020.
Ajay Devgn’s involvement with KFC’s add HOPE™ will see him guide and support this campaign as it fights hunger across India. He will actively contribute towards spreading awareness about the campaign and taking it to a larger audience acrosss the country.
Talking about the association Rahul Shinde, Managing Director, KFC India said, “According to a recent report by the United Nations, India is home to the largest undernourished and hungry population in the world. 1 child out of 4 in India is malnourished and more than 3,000 children die every day from poor diet related illness. Through add HOPE™ we aim to raise awareness and sensitize the masses about the serious issue of hunger, and provide meals to underprivileged kids in the country.
I thank Ajay Devgn for lending support to add HOPE™. The journey to fight childhood hunger in the country is challenging, but with the support of our partners and hope ambassadors like Ajay, we are confident of moving in the right direction.”
Talking about his support towards the initiative Ajay Devgn said, “With such a large population, hunger is one of the most critical issues that our country faces. I think being associated with add HOPE™ as a Hope ambassador, is the one of the most challenging roles I have ever taken on – we are hoping to tackle a big, complex problem head on by raising awareness about hunger. The difference a meal can make to a child’s development is huge. On screen, we all love to see the bad guys defeated. You too can contribute to defeating hunger and become a real life hero by adding a nominal amount of ₹5 to the bill each time you visit a KFC store.“
Through add HOPE™ consumers can feed a hungry child by adding ₹5 to their bill, each time they visit a KFC store. KFC employees in the 300+ restaurants around the country will also support local communities through volunteerism.
