Chief minister takes stock of the loss due to unseasonal rains from the guardian ministers

Mumbai, November 6, 2019 :- It is extremely necessary  to make the farmers stand again after facing huge losses due to unseasonal rain. All the facilities that are given during the time of drought, should be given in this period of wet drought.  The work of cleansing of agricultural land that had faced loss, should be made under the Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) so that the peasants and farmer laborers also get employment. These instructions were given by Chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis, today.

 The cabinet members of Maharashtra government had visited various places for inspection and assessment of the loss due to unseasonal rains that lashed various parts of the state.  A meeting for presentation of their reports was today conducted at the  Sahyadri guest house under the chairmanship of chief minister. He was speaking during this meeting. Revenue minister Chandrakant Patil, Transport Minister Diwakar Raote, finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Public Works Department Minister Eknath Shinde, environment minister Ramdas Kadam, water resources minister Girish Mahajan and other members of the state cabinet were present on this occasion.

 The Guardian ministers of various district presented the reports on the losses due to non-seasonal rains and about the demands of farmers. The Chief Minister said that the loss incurred by the farmers due to unseasonal rain, cyclone and flood this year is the most disasters in last 30 to 40 years. He said that the situation of crops in the entire state was very good this year but the natural calamity has destroyed the crops and left the farmers miserable. He futher said that the public representatives and administration should be more sensitive and working for giving solace to the distressed farmers in the state and strive hard to deposit the compensation in their accounts.

 Mr. Fadnavis also said that all the facilities that are given during the drought, should be e provided in this period of distress and natural calamity to the farmers. The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to stand with all the affected farmers to bring them out from the heavy losses and directed that the spot assessment ‘Panchnamas’ of the eligible farmers should be made immediately so that they can be provided financial assistance. He also said that in order to provide them maximum compensation from the insurance companies, the accurate spot assessments are very necessary. The chief minister directed the guardian ministers to co-ordinate with the district administration and see to it that the Panchnamas was are carried out accurately and immediately.

 Mr Fadnavis also directed them to conduct meetings in the field for spot assessment. The chief minister also said that care should be taken that no farmer is left out from financial assistance because of technical reasons. He asked the administration to take due care in this regard. He said that state level meetings have been conducted to see that maximum compensation is been given to the farmers by the insurance companies and added that the Union Home minister and agriculture minister are also going to conduct meetings with insurance companies, soon.

 The chief minister also directed the administration to see that various measures like employment, food security are made available in this hard time to the farmers and farm laborers. Chief secretary Ajoy Mehta and Chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries of Finance, revenue ,animal husbandry, dairy and Fisheries, agriculture department, rehabilitation and relief department were also present during the meeting.
