​​Baithak –​ ​Organized to relive the old Musical Days

Pune, 11th November 2017: The trend of sitting in baithak has been faded which Avartan Gurukul rejuvenated through the Indian traditional style of seating arrangement by organizing ‘Baithak’ which was held yesterday at Abasaheb Garware Hall, Karve Road, Pune.

Avartan Gurukul, a unique platform for precise and personalised guidance in classical music and art forms had this very first edition of ‘Baithak’ with Indian classical music performances and style of sitting in Baithak proved an absolute feast for the audience.

A systematic arrangement of Indian seating was arranged in a manner that it enhanced the musical dialogue between artist and the audience. The idea of ‘Baithak’ took the whole event to a different level of musical experience. This concept is started to pay tribute to the late Girija Devi and late Suhasini Koratkar.

The concert witnessed the mesmerizing Vocal performance of Sameehan Kashalkar, disciple and son of Padmashree Ulhas Kashalkar. He performed Raga Puriya Dhanashree, Bada Khayal in Vilambeet teen taal and Chota Khayal in Drut teen taal which took the audience to a euphoric level. He was accompanied on Tabla by Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. The performance was a complete blend of clarity and devotion towards music. The thrilling concert by Sameehan showcased a lot of potential and assured the audience regarding the rise of a future Maestro.

The second recital featured Tabla Solo by Pt. Ramdas Palsule. He began with teen taal and presented Kayadas and Peshkar in Vilambheet rhythm. Later he offered Rele and Tukade in Madhya and Drut rhythm. Pt. Palsule demonstrated immense innovation of the traditional art forms in Indian Classical Music. Thepowerful and ingenious performance mesmerized the audience and made it evident that he is one of the leading Tabla artist in India.

His disciple Parth Tarabadkar accompanied him on Tabla with a promising performance. And The two were accompanied by Harmonium player Tanmay Deochake with his melodious and rhythmic style.

The first Baithak proved out to be a great success as it was designed and managed magnificiently.
