According to the officials, once the current cargo area is cleared, the airport authority will also be able to speed up the ongoing development of its new terminal building.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) needed to transfer the land in order to start the project.

Santosh Dhoke, Director of Pune Airport, stated, “We intend to get the work done by December 31 this year.”

For the expansion of Pune Airport this year, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has consented to donate 13 acres of defence territory to the AAI.

Dhoke added, “We’ll need to develop resources for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Only then will the remaining land parcel be able to be cleared for the project and obtained through the IAF’s current infrastructure. The DEO has provided us with asset designs. We are currently estimating the price that will be associated with developing the IAF’s assets.”

“The new infrastructure will be built in accordance with protocol and will be turned over to the IAF authority in accordance with the signed contract. Following that, we will receive the 10-acre block of land from the DEO and IAF,” he said.

Vineet Nair, the DEO for the Pune region said, “We must give 13 acres of defence property to the AAI in Pune, as per instructions from the government. After that, we gave the AAI 1.76 acres out of the 13 acres. The ministry will get land of equivalent value from the AAI anywhere in the nation in place of this land.”
