108 players for 1st Edition of ‘PYC – Wadeshwar Table Tennis League 2024

Pune, 21st November 2024: Sanat Jain(Ace Spectrum Warriors, 4000pts), Vishwesh Deshpande(Kara’s Cardinals, 3550pts), Aditya Abhyankar(iSynergy Scorchers, 3500pts) emerged the most expensive players  amongst 108 players in various age groups who will represent six teams at the first edition of ‘PYC – Wadeshwar’ Table Tennis league tournament to be organized by PYC Hindu Gymkhana and played at PYC Community Hall from 22nd to 24th November 2024.

Mr. Kumar Tamhane, President of PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Mr. Sarang Lagu, Joint Secretary of the PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Mr.Tanmay Agashe, Secretary of Table Tennis Dept. of PYC informed that, We have received an overwhelming response participation for first ever edition of PTTL. The event attracted 108 participants in various age categories. Wadeshwar will be the exclusive sponsor for the tournament, added Mr. Tamhane.

“We are thrilled to organize table tennis league event for the first time and happy to provide a platform for players to show their skills ” added Mr. Sarang Lagu.

There will be one group of 6 teams and the event will be played in all play all round robin format. The winning team will receive a Trophy, informed Mr. Tanmay Agashe, Table Tennis secretary of PYC Hindu Gymkhana. Mr. Nandan Dongre, will be the Tournament Director of  PTTL.

The highlights of this year’s event is Maximum members participation and a format where everyone gets to play. We have ensured more women and children participation this year. There will be Gold Open Doubles,  Open Rotational Singles, Open Doubles, Open Rotational Singles and Open Doubles match in a Tie.

The participants who are all club members were selected in 6 teams through an auction process. The teams, also owned by PYC members, are as follows. Wadeshwar Wizards( Owner Swanand Bhave), Ace Spectrum Warriors(Kaustubh Valimbe), iSynergy Scorchers(Mihir Thombre & Atul Thombre), Kara’s Cardinals(Ranjit Pande & Kavita Pande), Belfins Tigers(Sachin Belgalkar & Abhishek Tamhane) and Oleosys Titans(Shirish Karnik).

Apart from that, this competition also will be held for Kids aged below 14. A total of 23 Kids will be drafted into 3 teams – Kings, Masters and Ninjas which will be seen in action at the PYC Wadeshwar Kids Table Tennis league tournament.

A special Tournament Committee comprising Chairman Tanmay Agashe, Sarang Lagu, Abhishek Tamhane, Nandan Dongre, Atul Thombre, Kaustbh Valimbe and Deepesh Abhaynkar has been formed to ensure smooth conduct of the event, Mr. Tamhane added.
