About 1200 workers depart for Lucknow from Pune railway station

Pune, May 9, 2020: A Shramik Special train departed from Pune railway station with 1131 workers to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Due to the lockdown, they were in put up in various shelter home. They were sent after following all the guidelines of the state government, informed District Collector Naval Kishore Ram.

Minister of State in the Mahavikas Aghadi government Vishwajeet Patangrao Kadam, Deputy Collector Subhash Bhagde, Inspector of Police Milind Gaikwad, Prem Waghmare along with officials and employees of Railways as well as Health, Police and Revenue Administration were present on the occasion.

District Collector Ram said that necessary precautions were taken by the Pune district administration for the passengers. Adequate seating arrangements were made for the passengers following the social distancing norms. The passengers were also examined by the health department for any influenza like illness. The train was fully sanitized and it was ensured that every passenger wore a face mask or handkerchief. Passengers sent by train were required to observe social distance. Meals and drinking water were also provided to the passengers. Apart from this, food packets were also provided for the journey.

 

This is the first train released from Pune district to Uttar Pradesh by the Maharashtra state government in coordination with District Collector Naval Kishore Ram and Uttar Pradesh administration. The citizens expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration. The Indian Railways has arranged special trains for stranded people and only those people are being allowed to board the train who are registered and nominated by the Pune district administration here. Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had announced to bear all the cost of train tickets for migrant workers. Accordingly, the Minister of State Dr Kadam took the initiative to make arrangements for the workers who did not have to pay for the tickets.

The special train left Pune station for Lucknow around 10 pm today. The passengers expressed happiness that it was possible to return to their village. “The Mahavikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra has set up shelter homes for migrant workers, students and other stranded citizens. Their health is also being taken care of along with meals for them”, said Dr Kadam.

 

All stranded people, who are living outside containment zones, who want to go back their hometowns have to fill online form on covid19.mhpolice.in If more than five people are travelling together then they have to make a list and one group leader can upload his/her details online with Aadhaar card, medical certificate stating that he/she is not suffering from any influenza like illness, and one photo. However,  workers don’t have to get medical certificate as their screening will be done free of cost at the time of departure. The workers leader can get form at local police station where staffs have been provided to help in filling the form. Individual person travelling has to get the medical certificate. The list of people is sent to the Collector of the District where people want to travel and after consent is received, travel permission is being granted.
