’13th World Senior Kurash Championship 2022′ to be held in November 2022 at Balewadi Pune

Pune, 9th October 2022 : Kurash Association of India has organized the 13th World Senior Kurash Championship 2022 from 23 to 29th November 2022 at Balewadi Sports Complex Pune. This championship is being held under the approval of International Kurash Association and Indian Olympic Association.

 

Jagdish Tytler, Founder Chairman, Chief Patron of Kurash Association of India & former Minister of State, Govt. of India along with Adv. Smita Nikam, Chief Coordinator of Championship & Maharashtra Patron of Kurash Association of India gave the information in a press conference.

 

Ramesh Popli, President of Kurash Association of India, Lal Singh, General Secretary, Dharmendra Malhotra, Treasurer, Ankush Nagre, President of Kurash Maharashtra, Shivaji Salunkhe, Maharashtra Olympics Association and other officials were present during a press conference held at the Patrakar Bhawan in Navi Peth.

 

Jagdish Tytler said, “Kurash is an ancient type of upright jacket grappling which originated in the territory of modern Uzbekistan. According to the latest scientific research the age of Kurash is at least three and a half thousand years. Kurash is one of the oldest martial arts the people had ever practiced.”

 

“We are happy that this year this championship is being held in India and that too in our Balewadi sports complex in Pune. 450 contestants from 60 countries are participating in this competition. Two teams from India will participate and 32 players will put their skills to the test. The competition will be held in both male and female groups, in different weight groups”, mentioned by Adv. Smita Nikam, Chief Coordinator of Championship & Maharashtra Patron.
