15 to 20 percent fare hike in private bus services due to increased fuel rates

Pune, November 23, 2018 : Bus operators of private bus companies have decided to increase the fare rates of their bus service by 15 to 20 percent due to increased petrol and diesel rates, other taxes, permits, insurance and increase in manpower cost and overall maintenance costs.

Rajan Junawane, Vice President, Pune Bus Owners Association announced the new tariff for the service at the annual general meeting of Pune’s private bus operators in the city today. Janardan Murkute, President of Pune Bus Owners Association, Kiran Desai and Tushar Jagtap, Secretary, Pune Bus Onwers Association, Anna Gaikwad, President of Pimpri-Chinchwad Bus Owners Association, Balasaheb Khedekar President of Pune District Luxury Bus Association were present on the occasion. Daily service bus operators, school, company and tourist bus operators were also present in this meeting.

“Bus operators’ had to face financial difficulties for many days due to increase in fuel prices and increased costs of manpower and maintenance of vehicles. Therefore, it was decided to increase the tariff rates of bus services across all vehicles by 15 to 20 percent, “said Junawane.

Kiran Desai and Tushar Jagtap informed about the various activities undertaken by the Pune Bus Owners Association. “Recently, the National Road Safety Week was observed by the organization, also 3000 drivers were trained in traffic rules and were given an accidental insurance. An eye checkup drive had been undertaken by the organization along with campaign of cataract surgery,” They said.
