154 Cases of Malpractice Reported in Maharashtra HSC Exams; Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Division Tops the List
Pune, 21st February 2025: Despite the implementation of the state board’s copy-free campaign for the ongoing Class 12 board exams, a total of 154 cases of malpractice have been reported across 39 examination centers in Maharashtra. The highest number of incidents has been recorded in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division.
State Board President Sharad Gosavi provided this information during a press conference. The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination, conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), began on February 11. On the very first day, 42 cases of malpractice were detected.
So far, the Pune division has reported 18 cases across six centers, while the Nagpur division has recorded three cases at two centers. In Amravati, six cases have been found at three examination centers, whereas the Nashik division has reported nine cases at five centers. The Latur division has recorded seven malpractices at three centers, while only one case has been reported from the Konkan division. However, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division has recorded the highest number, with 104 cases reported at 17 examination centers.
Since the exams are still ongoing, the final figures on malpractices will be available after the completion of all papers.
Strict Monitoring with Drones and De-Accreditation of Centers
For the first time, drone cameras have been deployed at sensitive examination centers to monitor activities during the exam period. “The use of drones has yielded positive results,” said Gosavi.
As part of strict action against malpractices, the state board has decided to de-accredit examination centers found guilty of misconduct.
“Examination centers where malpractice is detected by flying squads will face cancellation of their recognition,” Gosavi added.
