17-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Valvan Dam, Lonavala
Lonavala, 31 May 2025: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old boy drowned in the Valvan Dam located in Lonavala city earlier today. The deceased has been identified as Nilesh Shinde, a resident of Kasarwadi, Pune.
According to reports, Nilesh had come to Lonavala on a trip with 12 of his friends. The group ventured to the rear side of the Valvan Dam from Varsoli. While entering the water, Nilesh misjudged the depth and drowned.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Shivdurga Mitra Rescue Team from Lonavala promptly arrived at the scene with rescue equipment. A search operation was immediately launched using diving gear, and the boy’s body was recovered from the water.
The successful rescue operation was carried out by team members Vaibhav Durge, Yogesh Dalvi, Mayur Dalvi, Sagar Dalvi, Kapil Dalvi, Akash More, Rohit More, Mahesh Masne, Kunal Kadu, Mahadev Bhavar, Pintu Mankar, Satish Sagar, and Sunil Gaikwad.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Lonavala Rural Police.
