18 Notorious Criminals Externed from Pune to Maintain Law and Order During Diwali

Pune, 15th October 2025: In a major crackdown ahead of the Diwali festival, the Pune City Police have externed (banished) 18 habitual offenders from the city to maintain peace and order. The externment orders were issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, targeting individuals repeatedly involved in illegal activities, including the illicit liquor trade.

The externed offenders include both men and women from areas under Zone 5, which covers Hadapsar-Kalepadal, Wanwadi, Kondhwa, Bibvewadi, Loni Kalbhor, Fursungi, and Mundhwa. Police stations in these areas had submitted proposals recommending the externment of these individuals. After reviewing the cases, DCP Dr. Shinde approved their banishment from Pune city and district.

Local residents have welcomed the action, describing it as a timely move to ensure a safe and peaceful Diwali.

Crackdown on Criminals in Zone 5
Between January and October 2025, the Pune Police Zone 5 has taken extensive preventive action against repeat offenders:

22 habitual criminals have been detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act and lodged in various jails across the state.

78 offenders who had absconded after being booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) were re-arrested.

50 criminals have been externed from the city in the past ten months.

Preventive action has been initiated against 150 offenders.

The ongoing crackdown is being conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajkumar Shinde.
