26-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Hit by Speeding PMPML Bus Near Pune Railway Station
Pune, 9th September 2025: A 26-year-old woman pedestrian was died after being struck by a speeding PMPML bus near Alankar Chowk in the Pune Railway Station area on Sunday night. The driver fled the spot after the accident, prompting renewed concerns over pedestrian safety in the city.
The deceased has been identified as Preeti Vidyasagar Vengal, a resident of Kharadi. According to police, she was crossing the road at Alankar Chowk when the bus, driven recklessly at high speed, hit her. The impact threw her to the ground, and she was crushed under the wheels, resulting in her death on the spot.
Following the incident, Sujit Bhandari of Manjari lodged a complaint at the Bundgarden police station. A case has been registered against the absconding driver, and a search is underway to trace him.
Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Chavan is investigating the case. Officials said the driver fled immediately after the accident, leaving the bus behind.
