27-Year-Old Man Held for Obscene Act Targeting Female Students at Pune University

Pune, 28th March 2025: A 27-year-old man, identified as Anil Vasant Gaikwad, has been arrested by Chaturshringi Police for allegedly engaging in obscene behavior in front of female students at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

The incident occurred when three female students were walking from the English Department towards the Chemistry Department within the university campus. Gaikwad allegedly committed an indecent act while looking at them, prompting the students to report the incident to university security.

A review of CCTV footage from the campus helped officers identify and track down the accused. Gaikwad was taken into custody.

Further investigation is underway to determine if he has a history of similar offenses, police officials confirmed.
