Pune, 7th December 2022: Underwater Sports Federation of India (USFI) is going to host its 2nd National Finswimming Championship at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Mahalunge Balewadi Pune from 9-11th December 2022. Finswimming is the new version of competitive Swimming. Finswimming is very popular in the world, in India it’s popularized by USFI.
Dronacharya award winner and Secretary General of USFI Dr. Tapan Panigrahi gave this information in a press conference today. Achinta Pandit (Treasurer USFI), Rear Admiral PD Sharma (President RLSS (I), Kaustav Bakshi (General Manager RLSS(I), George Makasare (Vice President RLSS(I)) and WHO representatives were present at this press conference.
Dr. Tapan Panigrahi said, “In this mega event more than 1000 competitors 70 Technical Officials, 34 state units more than 300 districts from Pan India confirmed their participation where 172 events and 516 medal positions will be contested in all the age categories in both the Genders. All the top class National and International champions will also be in action in the 3 days long events. Those accomplished athletes from the Nationals team will go to represent India in the Commonwealth Championships 2023 Windsor, Ontario, Canada from 13th to 17th September 2023.”
Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India)’s Lifesaving Sport 2022 are being conducted in association with the Underwater Sports Federation of India.
Lifesaving Sports are unique, since they are the only sports in which the skills are first learnt for the saving a life and only then applied the different skills and techniques for the competitions in the ocean, beach or a swimming pool.
These Lifesaving Sports shall act as a ‘Training Camp’ for the Nationals that are scheduled in 2023.
Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) is the Official Branch of the Royal Lifesaving Society Commonwealth and the member of the International Lifesaving Federation all selections for International competition shall be endorsed via RLSS (India). [World Games, World Championship & Commonwealth Games].
