48th STATE SENIOR JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 Nashik’s Ajinkya claims first gold

Pune, February 17: International Ajinkya Vaidya (Nashik) bagged the first gold medal of the 48th State Senior Judo Championship 2022, organized by Maharashtra Judo Association, at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi-Mhalunge, here on Thursday.

In the Under-66 kg men’s final, Ajinkya got the better of Avadhoot Patil (Kolhapur) in 35 seconds. Ajinkya won his bout by executing a Ko Soto Gake to claim the top spot.

Ajinkya, a silver medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championship held at Jaipur, moved into the final after topping his half of the group while Avdhoot made the summit clash from his half.

Pune-lad Ajinkya Mate and Amravati’s Keshav Loknath settle for the bronze medal.

Earlier, Mahabali Hanuman inaugurated the championship in the presence of  Shailesh Tilak, General Secretary, Maharashtra Judo Association (MJA), Ravi Patil, Chairman of the Technical Committee, Datta Aphale, Secretary of the Technical Committee, Anil Sapkal, Tournament Observer and Deepak Hole, Competition Director were present on this occasion.
