4th EDITION OF YOUNG CHEF OLYMPIAD IN PUNE

Pune, 24th January, 2018:Pune is all set to play host for the 1st Round of the hottest international culinary competition for hospitality students, Young Chef Olympiad (YCO), conceptualised and executed by IIHM. The event, which will be held on 30th January, will feature some of the leading Michelin-starred chefs as judges.The 4th Edition of YCO also features an exclusive ‘International Culinary Forum’ on 29th January atThe Westin Pune Koregaon Park. A unique chef’s conclave, the forum encompasses a discussion with some of the leading chefs and hospitality practitioners about the issues related to the hospitality industry. The 2018 Forum will focus on 2 key issues: 1. Sustainability and Food Waste: Reducing the food miles and 2. The X Generation to the Z Generation. An exploration of how the generations in the last 60 years have changed in attitude and expectations and the impact that this can have on career choice, talking about emerging trends and inspiring young people to enter the Hospitality and Culinary Industry.

The speakers will comprise of international Chefs, reputed mentors attending the Olympiad, YCO competitors and invited guests from who’s who of the hotel and restaurant industry.

The first round of the Olympiad will begin on 30th January at IIHM, Pune featuring 10 countries – Philippines, Egypt, South Korea, Kenya, Armenia, Greece, Turkey, Namibia, Mauritius and Malta.

The 1st Round of Olympiad will be judged by 3 international judges – Chef Karl Josef Magnus Guggenmos, Chef Yee Chung Boris Leung, and Chef Vincenzo Oliveri. The leading Chef Karen Anandof Pune will also be a part of the judging panel.

The competition will feature 2 sets of judges for each round. One set will be marking on the technical and production element and the other set of judges will be marking on the presentation, taste, flavour and culinary knowledge.
