50 Delegates Arrive for G-20 Digital Economy Working Group Meeting in Pune

Pune, 11th June 2023: Pune witnessed the arrival of approximately 50 delegates on Sunday for the highly anticipated meeting of the G-20 Digital Economy Working Group, scheduled to take place from the 12th to the 14th of June. Representatives from various countries, including Australia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Oman, Nigeria, Singapore, Indonesia, Russia, Mauritius, England, and Laos, were greeted in a traditional fashion by the district administration.

The delegates were warmly welcomed by the district administration, adorned with Puneri turbans and shawls, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra. The guests were treated to a traditional reception complete with the beat of drums and the resonating sound of trumpets, offering them a glimpse into the unique culture of the region. Dr. Chetna Kerure, Deputy Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation, and Manoj Kumar Khairnar, Deputy Collector of the Etiquette Department, were among the dignitaries present at the reception.

 

The administration had made meticulous arrangements to ensure the delegates felt truly welcomed. Dhol Tasha troupes in elaborate costumes and Tutari Wadaka were part of the grand display. Everywhere one looked, placards adorned with the concept of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ and welcoming messages for the G-20 summit were prominently displayed.

 

The delegates, deeply moved by the reception, reciprocated the warm welcome with immense joy and enthusiasm. Embracing the Maharashtrian culture, they responded loudly and fervently with the words ‘Namaste India,’ a gesture that demonstrated their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them. The unique and heartfelt welcome left an indelible mark on the faces of the delegates.

 

Adding to the excitement, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, arrived in Pune later in the evening to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group. The district administration honored the esteemed minister with a Puneri turban and shawl, paying homage to the cultural traditions of Maharashtra.

 

The G-20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting holds immense significance, as it brings together representatives from various nations and global institutions that play crucial roles in the financial development and stability of the international economy.
